Sea Level Rise:
Many islands in the South Pacific lie only a few feet above sea level. Climate change is very likely to cause great rises in sea level which would make many islands disappear and force thousands to move. One effect is already apparent: the severity of El Niño weather, which brings storms, and La Niña, which brings more violent floods.

Tourism:
Many islands in the Pacific rely on tourism as their major source of income. With eroding beaches and rising sea levels due to climate change, the island economies are in danger of collapse.

Water Resources:
It is already hard to find fresh water in Australia’s inland. Wildfires are common throughout the year, especially during the summer. More drought caused by climate change would cause more fires and make fresh water even harder to find. Sea level rising would also cause water contamination on many small Pacific islands.
